Cement is the most produced material in the world. It is used by the tonne to construct new buildings. However, the use of cement comes with a big problem. 8% of global CO2 emissions are caused by cement production. To stop climate change and protect the planet, viable alternatives to cement are urgently needed.
In this project I used Illustrator, XD, Cinema4D and Tableau. In code, I used JavaScript and HTML.
PROCESS
Before starting the project, I read about cement as a climate killer in a newspaper. I was interested and decided to create a data visualization in the form of a scrolling article on this topic. I used data on cement consumption from all countries. I wrapped it in a story and used various visual elements to explain the cement problem. In the end, I created a fictional online article that works on a smartphone and can only be accessed by scrolling.
